13.118

外論曰。老君作範惟孝惟忠。救世度人極慈極愛。是以聲教永傳百王不改。玄風長被萬古無差。所以治國治家常然楷式。釋教棄親不仁不孝。闍王殺父翻說無愆。調達射兄無聞得罪。以此導凡更為長惡。用斯範世何能生善。此逆順之異十也。

The External Treatise states: Lord Lao established models centered solely on filial piety and loyalty, saving the world and delivering people with ultimate compassion and ultimate love. Therefore, his vocal teachings are transmitted eternally, unvaried across a hundred kings; his dark style is spread long, without error through myriad ages. Thus they are an ever-abiding standard for governing the state and governing the family. The Buddhist teaching abandons parents, lacking benevolence and lacking filial piety. King Ajātaśatru killed his father, yet it is contrarily claimed he committed no offense; Devadatta shot at his brother, yet it is unheard that he incurred guilt. Guiding ordinary people with this only fosters evil further; using this to model the world, how could it bring forth good? This is the tenth [difference], the difference in perversion and accordance.
