The aforementioned stupas all stem from the beginning of the Ji Zhou dynasty, when there was a great wheel-turning king named Aśoka, which here translates as 'Wuyou' (Sorrowless). He ruled over this continent with more than ten thousand states. Employing ghosts and spirits, he built 84,000 stupas in a single day, and this land possesses some of them. They repeatedly produce divine and wondrous signs, extensively described as in the records of miraculous responses.
