The miraculous golden image of King Aśoka in Yangzhou was obtained from the rear garden during the reign of Sun Hao of the Wu dynasty. At first, Sun Hao despised and desecrated it, whereupon his whole body became swollen and painful. The grand astrologer divined: 'You have offended a great deity.' Sun Hao apologized to it, and after a short while his illness abated, leading him to develop faith.
