Now, the profound culmination is calm and tranquil, not something that scholars can spy into; the wondrous source is difficult to conceive, how could practitioners fathom it? Therefore, when the ten grounds are said to see it, they still have the doubt of viewing through fine gauze; when the three vehicles claim to perceive it, they still harbour the confusion of mistaking a rhinoceros for a sheep. Unless one's discernment exhausts the triggers of awakening, their illumination reaches the ultimate dark void, fathoming principle, exhausting nature, and embodying the fundamental to embrace the One—how could they save the world to achieve benevolence and longevity, or rescue living beings from hanging over danger? Their Way encompasses the blue seas, and their fame rises high over the Red Land. In antiquity, Yao's brilliance was confined only to his present world; Shun's filial piety did not extend to future fruits. The four tours of inspection wearied Yu's footsteps, and the six duties exhausted Tang's body. These were all labours within the realm, and benefits completed within this world. How could they cross ordinary beings over the ocean of suffering, or pluck the teeming multitudes from the perilous paths? Wielding spiritual power and sounding the Dharma roar, they probed the wondrous principle of the City of Fragrance and exhausted the profound discourse of the Golden River. Their wisdom surpassed Nāgārjuna, and their insight exceeded Aśvaghoṣa. Resolving to cleanse officials and commoners, and guide monastics and laypeople, what heaven covers and earth nourishes, what is produced in water and born on land—all receive their compassion, and all obtain equality. On behalf of His Majesty the Emperor and the Crown Prince, we pay homage, and so forth.
