We reverently pray that His Majesty the Emperor's brilliant fortune may match the seven luminaries, and the imperial foundation may endure as long as the sun and moon. May the earth be level and the heavens complete, music harmonious and ritual fitting; may the jade candle align its course, and the atmospheric vapours remain without error; may seasonable winds and auspicious rains follow one after another in moistening richness. Let warhorses be turned back and weapons laid down, halberds cast into plows and spears melted away. Extending to the south and north, covering the west and spreading to the east; sprinkling sweet rain and spreading clouds of beneficence. May ropes suffice for knots of governance, and mere painted symbols suffice upon garments. How peaceful! How majestic! As their leader, as their head! We also pray that the Crown Prince's sagacious undertakings and pure radiance may shine alongside true brightness, and his pristine model and warm deportment may rise high like Mount Song and Mount Huo. May his fame surpass King Cheng of Zhou, and his virtue transcend Prince Zhuang of Han. May he forever bathe in the waters of wisdom and perpetually shine in the sun of insight; may the supreme and wondrous abide in his person, and utmost benevolence reside in himself. Since the eight branches beneath the twin trees concealed their light and hid their brilliance, the precious city was not opened, and the gates of wisdom were shut; yet the sage sovereign drives the Dharma-wheel along the long road, and oars the precious boat across the distant gorge. His Way spreads to humans and spirits, and his blessings magnify the ancestral altars. Reverently attending to the imperial mausoleums and devoutly honouring the ancestral protection, relying on this wondrous fruit we extend it to the sacred spirits of the seven ancestral temples, taking refuge and paying homage, and so forth.
