17.18

華州於思覺寺起塔。天時陰雪。舍利將下日便朗照。有五色光氣。去地數丈。狀若相輪。正覆塔上。數十里外。遙望之。則正赤上屬天。舍利下訖雲霧復起。瑞雪飛散如天華。著人衣久之而不濕。

In Huazhou, a stupa was erected at Sijue Temple. The weather had been overcast and snowing, but when the relics were about to be lowered, the sun shone brightly. A multicolored vapor of light, several zhang above the ground and shaped like the rings of a stupa finial, directly covered the stupa. Viewed from several tens of li away, it was bright red and reached upward to the sky. After the relics had been lowered, clouds and mist arose again, and auspicious snow fluttered down like heavenly flowers, clinging to people's clothes for a long time without melting into dampness.
