17.69

杞州表云。舍利以三月四日到州。十四日辰時。瑠璃瓶裏色白如月。須臾之間即變為赤色。至四月二日後變作紫光。或現青色。瓶內流轉。一來一去。循環不止。道俗瞻仰。咸共歸依實相容儀。良久乃散。七日午時。神影復出。變動輝煥於前無異。

The memorial from Qizhou stated: The relics arrived in the prefecture on the fourth day of the third month. On the fourteenth day, during the hour of the Dragon [7:00–9:00 a.m.], inside the lapis lazuli bottle the colour was as white as the moon; in an instant it changed to a red colour. When it reached the second day of the fourth month, it later transformed into a purple light, or sometimes showed a blue-green colour, swirling within the bottle, coming and going, circulating without cease. Clergy and laity gazed up in reverence, all taking refuge together in the form and demeanour of the true mark; only after a long while did it disperse. On the seventh day at noon, the divine shadows emerged again, their shifting and radiant splendor no different from before.
