再答。假知者累伏故。理暫為用用暫在理。不恒其知。真知者照寂故理常為用用常在理。故永為真知。

Second reply: Provisional knowledge is due to defilements being subdued; principle is temporarily put to function, and function is temporarily in accord with principle, but its knowing is not permanent. Real knowledge is illumination joined with quiescence; principle is constantly put to function, and function is constantly in accord with principle, so it is eternally real knowledge.
