Your Majesty's virtue surpasses the receiving of celestial charts, and Your Way is exalted in matching the profound words. The four, the three, the six, and the five cannot illustrate it; ten Yaos and nine Shuns cannot match it. Yet when the autumn wind stirs the branches, You still give rise to unceasing care; if a single creature loses its place, You still harbor the benevolence of feeling as if falling into a ditch. You are currently lingering over thoughts of the imperial hall, and have not yet considered lecturing in the Stone Canal Pavilion. Humbly we consider that what is manifested by spiritual powers handles myriad affairs in a single instant; what is enacted by great expedient means responds to the three secrets in due time. While dwelling in dhyāna serenity, You project shadows in the ten directions; once You initiate a bodhimanda, it already encompasses eight assemblies. How could You be equated with the toils of Mount Xiong and Mount Xiang of the ruler who regulated the pitch-pipes, or pressed by the affairs of wind and rain of the sovereign who cast the cauldrons? We humbly pray that You will act with the compassion of the Tathāgata through equal wisdom, and for the sake of delivering the multitude of living beings, grant this rare event, causing the court to be filled with the One Vehicle and all minds to practice the ten good deeds. May each person hold the jewel of wisdom and the torch of the Dharma, and every household look forward to the fourfold patience and the five vidyās. Respectfully risking the heavenly majesty, we submit this petition once more. Lifting our sincere hearts in eager longing, we humbly hope for Your assent, so that the northern region of Ji will lack mountains—how could they have stood high only in days of old?—and the sun will turn its light back upon Nanyang, no longer blocked off only in the present. Respectfully submitted.
