26.90

問若如此涅槃經有斷肉。楞伽經有斷肉。央掘摩羅經亦斷肉。大雲經縛象經並斷肉律。若至涅槃云何無斷肉事。答律接續初教。所以如此。

[The Emperor] asked: "If so, the Mahāparinirvāṇa-sūtra prohibits meat, the Laṅkāvatāra-sūtra prohibits meat, the Aṅgulimālīya-sūtra also prohibits meat, and both the Mahāmegha-sūtra and the Hastikakṣya-sūtra prohibit meat. If the Vinaya extends down to the nirvāṇa, why is there no prohibition of meat in it?" [Sengbian] replied: "The Vinaya continues the initial teaching; hence it is like this."
