If one claims that lustful debauchery is joy, then their vital energy and blood should remain robust, their eyes bright, and their spirits refreshed; they should remain young without growing old, and vigorous without deteriorating. Why is it that indulging their desires and giving free rein to their cravings invariably brings exhaustion? Their brains are drained, their marrow exhausted, their heads grow dizzy, and their vision blurs; their hearts are alarmed, their breath constricted, their sinews and bones slack and limp; their mouths are dry, their lips parched, their four limbs tremble; their five viscera are wrung out, leading to premature death. One should know that lustful debauchery is truly the root of suffering.
