28.14

皇帝敬問太山朗和上。澄神靈緒慈蔭百國。凡在含生孰不蒙潤。朕承藉纂統方夏事膺。昔蜀不恭魏武含慨。今二賊不平。朕豈獲安。又元戎剋興征掃暴。亂至人通靈隨權指化。願兵不血刃四海混伏。委心歸誠。久敬何已。今遣使者。送官絹百匹。袈裟三領綿五十斤。幸為呪願。

The Emperor respectfully inquires after Upādhyāya Lang of Mount Tai. Your clarified spirit and numinous lineage cast their compassionate shade over a hundred states. Among all that breathe life, who does not receive your moisture? Having inherited the dynastic succession, I face affairs in the central lands. In the past, when Shu was disrespectful, Emperor Wu of Wei harbored indignant grief; now that two rebels remain unpacified, how could I obtain peace? Moreover, the grand army has risen to punish and sweep away violent chaos. As an utmost person who communicates with the numinous, you guide and transform according to expediency. I wish that weapons need not be bloodied and the four seas may submit in harmony. Entrusting my mind and turning in sincerity, how could my long-held veneration ever cease? Now I dispatch an envoy to present one hundred bolts of official silk, three robes, and fifty catties of silk floss. I fortunate hope that you will utter incantations and prayers on our behalf.
