Letting the oars drift, I admire the winding bends;
Seeking the mountain, sight and hearing grow still.
Ever following the nature of fragrant pollia,
I must part ways with vulgar men.
The cowrie-shell pagoda reflects in moving currents;
Flower-terraces weave their fragrance across peaks.
Tangled cassia branches emerge past eaves;
Billowing clouds encircle windows.
With secluded feelings, how could I follow external things?
With distant aspirations, it is easy to startle the flock.
How could I dally among fish and birds?
I have no wish to submit to black and crimson robes.
