又漢武窮兵疲役中國。天下戶口至減太半。稱老子為方朔者。何忍不與辟兵辟穀之符。厭人呪鬼之方。以護漢國乎。眼看流弊。若此無心取救。將非欺誑謬乎。

Furthermore, Emperor Wu of the Han exhausted the military and wearied the population of the Central Plains with corvée, so that the households under heaven were reduced by more than half. If Laozi is claimed to be Dongfang Shuo, how could he bear not to provide talismans for warding off weapons and abstaining from grain, or formulas for exorcising people and cursing demons, so as to protect the Han state? Watching the rampant disasters like this without any mind to save them—is this not deceitful and absurd?
