9.16

太上三元品云。上元一品天宮元氣始凝。三光開明青黃之氣置上元三宮。第一宮名玄都元陽七寶紫微宮。則有青元始陽之氣。總主上真自然玉宮靈寶上皇諸天帝王上聖大神。其宮皆五億五萬五千五百五十五億萬重青陽之氣。其中神仙官僚人眾各有五億五萬乃至如上萬重。皆結自然青元之氣而為人也。其九宮重數官僚人眾皆同紫微。

The Taishang sanyuan pin says: 'In the heavenly palaces of the first rank of the Upper Prime, the original qi first congealed. The three luminaries shone forth, and the azure and yellow qi established the three palaces of the Upper Prime. The first palace is named the Palace of Seven Treasures and Purple Tenuity of Primordial Yang of the Mysterious Capital; it possesses the qi of the Azure Primordial Beginning Yang, which oversees all the authentic jade palaces of spontaneity, the Lingbao Shanghuang, all the heavenly sovereigns, kings, superior sages, and great spirits. Their palaces are all fifty-five million, five hundred and fifty-five thousand, five hundred and fifty-five hundred million levels of azure-yang qi. Within them, the divine immortals, officials, and human assemblies each number five hundred million, fifty thousand, down to the tens of thousands of levels as above, all formed into persons by the condensation of the spontaneous azure primordial qi. The numbers of levels, officials, and human assemblies of its nine palaces are all the same as Purple Tenuity.'
