May all sentient beings, with their noses, never smell the odors of killing living beings and the rich flavors of foods, the odor of the leather bag of the thirty-six bodily parts, the odor of lust-inducing silks and cosmetics, the five pungent roots that cause odor, and the odor of corpses in the nine stages of decomposition. May their noses constantly smell the fragrance of all trees, grasses, and plants in the worlds of the ten directions; the fragrance of the virtues of the five precepts, eight precepts, ten wholesome deeds, and six recollections; the uncontaminated fragrance of the trainees, those beyond training, the ten stages, the five aggregates [of the dharmakāya], the ten powers, and the eighty-four thousand pāramitās; and the fragrance of the Buddhas in the ten directions preaching the Dharma.
