Daxi bows his head and offers reverence. Daxi's utmost sincerity could not move heaven, and he has suddenly met with calamity and punishment. Crying aloud and calling out to the one departed forever, his five viscera are torn to shreds. Reproaching himself and grieving for himself, dying ten thousand times would not make amends. When my compassionate mother approached her end, her correct mindfulness was undisturbed; she fixed her thoughts upon the Buddhas and her fundamental master until her lifespan was exhausted. A worldly mortal's clinging love between mother and child is deep; encountering this eternal separation, my heart and liver are shattered. Unable to control myself, following her dying bequest, I offer thirty liang of fine gold at this farewell to serve as merit for the bodhimaṇḍa. On the twenty-eighth day of the ninth month, we respectfully arranged the interment. Beginning and end are eternally concluded, and she cannot be seen again. Wailing in bitter anguish, I have no heart to cling to life. I humbly trust that when you hear this news, your compassion will reasonably extend down to us. What I hope is that you will arouse your mind to deliver her, surely causing her departed spirit to roam in the Pure Land. I did not imagine that writing this missive, approaching the paper, I would collapse in sorrow. Daxi bows in reverence.
