Presented by Your Minister Prajñā and others—Acting Commissioner Bearing Credentials, Equal in Rank to the Three Excellencies, General Commanding the Twelve Abodes, Commander-in-Chief of the Vijñaptimātratā Circuit Military Expedition, Senior Pillar of State, and Duke of Jin: Your minister has heard that when the four Māras flout imperial commands, successive dynasties find them a thorn in the throat; when the wandering spirits of the five entrenchments rove, conscious beings suffer affliction on their account. For this reason, the holy wisdom of the three vidyās and the heroic reverence of the ten powers have never failed repeatedly to mobilize detached forces and frequently conduct punitive expeditions.
