法師。對曰。龍吟雲起。非蚯蚓之所能。虎嘯風生。非跛驢之所及。雷門無施布鼓。電曜豈懼螢光。敵對即施何用預搔待痒。

The Dharma Master replied, 'When dragons chant, clouds arise—this is not what earthworms can do; when tigers roar, winds are born—this is not what lame donkeys can achieve. At Thunder Gate, one does not set out cloth drums; how could the flash of lightning fear the glow of a firefly? When facing the opponent, we will deploy it; why scratch before the itch arrives?'
