1.70

姜斌曰。孔子既是制法聖人。當時於佛何得逈無一言記　法師對曰。真是仁者不識同於管闚覽不弘廣。何得輒謗孔子於佛逈無一言記。仁者若不相信。孔子自有三備卜經。佛之出世在中備。仁者善自披究足得開曉。

Jiang Bin said, "Since Confucius was a sage who established the laws, why would he at that time have had utterly not a single word on record concerning the Buddha?" The Dharma Master replied, "Truly it is that you, kind sir, do not know, as if peering through a tube, and have not read extensively. How could you rashly slander Confucius by saying he had utterly not a single word on record concerning the Buddha? If you, kind sir, do not believe it, Confucius himself had the Sanbei bujing (Divination Classic in Three Preparations). The Buddha's appearance in the world is in the 'Middle Preparation'. If you, kind sir, properly examine it for yourself, it will be quite enough to enlighten you."
