3.25

又蜀郡沙門釋僧生者。出家以苦行致因。為蜀三賢寺主。誦法花習定。甞山中誦經。虎蹲其前。竟部乃去。每至諷詠輒見左右四人為侍。年雖衰老而翹懃彌勵。遂終其業云云。

Furthermore, the Śramaṇa Shi Shengsheng of the Shu Commandery became a monastic with ascetic practices as his primary cause. He served as abbot of Sanxian Temple in Shu, reciting the *Lotus Sūtra* and practicing dhyāna. Once, while reciting the scripture in the mountains, a tiger crouched before him, leaving only when the text was completed. Whenever he chanted and recited, he would constantly see four persons flanking him as attendants. Though advanced in years and frail, he was all the more diligent and zealous, and thus concluded his career, and so on.
