The bodhisattva says: The Inner Chapters of the Zhuangzi state: 'When Lao Dan died, Qin Yi went to mourn him; he wailed three times and came out. The disciples were surprised and asked, "Were you not a friend of the Master?" Qin Yi said, "Just now when I went in, the young mourned him as if mourning their father, and the old mourned him as if mourning their child. In ancient times, this was called evading the natural form. At first I thought he was such a man, but now I know he was not." "Evading" means concealing; "natural" means escaping bonds; "form" means the body. This means that at first he thought Laozi was an immortal who had escaped bonds and concealed his form, but now he knew it was not so. He lamented that Laozi used flattery and crookedness to win people's feelings, and so could not escape death; hence he was not his friend.'
