Master Han wrote the stele inscription for the Luochi Shrine, and the Tang History criticized him for it; it was indeed right to criticize him. In serving spirits, Master Han ought to have made discerning distinctions; instead, he followed along in divinizing it and embellished such accounts. How excessively fond of the bizarre! A saying goes: 'The Master did not speak of the bizarre, feats of strength, disorders, or spirits.' Yet Master Han acted thus—did this not run contrary to Confucius?
