佛教在中國。使人棄華而就實。背偽而歸真。由力行而造於安行。由自利而至於利彼。其為生民之所依歸者。無以加矣。故三武之君欲滅佛。而佛終不可滅。

As for Buddhism in China, it causes people to abandon ostentation and approach the real, to turn their backs on falsehood and return to truth; to advance from diligent practice to natural and tranquil practice, and from self-benefit to the benefit of others. As that upon which living people rely and take refuge, nothing can surpass it. Therefore, though the three rulers named Wu sought to extinguish Buddhism, in the end Buddhism could not be extinguished.
