以根性言之。則小聖不及於大凡（上根上信凡夫。行菩薩行修大乘道。不立階級。直至正覺。是小聖不及大凡也）。

In terms of root-capacity and nature, the lesser sages do not equal the great ordinary persons. (An ordinary person of superior capacity and superior faith practices the bodhisattva path and cultivates the Mahāyāna Way without establishing stages, going straight to correct enlightenment; thus the lesser sages do not equal the great ordinary persons.)
