一手指天一手指地。曰天上天下唯吾獨尊（目顧四方。上下所指。一則異於凡流。二者發明大事因緣。翫者於此動用之間。自可消息）。

Pointing one hand to heaven and one hand to earth, he declared: 'In the heavens above and beneath the heavens, I alone am supreme.' (Glancing toward the four directions and pointing up and down: first, this distinguished him from the common run of people; second, this elucidated the one great cause. Those who ponder this in the midst of its activity can understand it for themselves.)
