且吾子曩時學二帝三王之道。六經諸子之書。今更捨之。反學西域之言。不亦陋乎（反者不合也。反以學西域佛之言教。為之鄙陋者乎）。

Now you abandon them instead and on the contrary study the words of the Western Regions. Is that not also vulgar?" (Contrariwise means not in accord. On the contrary studying the spoken teachings of the Buddha of the Western Regions—is that not considered base and vulgar?).
