然後進善履道。捍拒生死（捍抵也。拒禦也。既知世道之勞苦其所須而俱備。然後則可以捍抵拒禦生死之事也）。

Only then do they advance in goodness and tread the Way, warding off birth and death (hàn means to withstand; jù means to resist; once they know the toil and bitterness of worldly life and their necessities are all supplied, they can then withstand and resist the matter of birth and death).
