及其登九五之位（易乾卦爻辭。初九潛龍勿用。舜在側陋。便是潛龍。九二見龍在田。舜田漁時也。九三君子終日乾乾。舜玄德昇聞時也。九四或躍在淵。舜之歷試時也。九五飛龍在天。舜即帝位也。故曰登九五之位也）。

When they ascended to the throne of the Nine in the Fifth (the line statements of the hexagram Qian in the Classic of Changes: Initial Nine, 'The hidden dragon; do not act'—when Shun was obscure and lowly, that was the hidden dragon; Nine in the Second, 'The dragon appears in the field'—this was the time when Shun farmed and fished; Nine in the Third, 'The noble person is active and vigilant all day'—this was the time when Shun's profound virtue was heard above; Nine in the Fourth, 'Leaping over the abyss'—this was the time when Shun underwent various trials; Nine in the Fifth, 'The flying dragon is in the heavens'—this was when Shun ascended the imperial throne; therefore it is said, 'When they ascended to the throne of the Nine in the Fifth').
