然聖人所制歷代服飾。以中國之民。行中國之禮者。雖不可廢也（黃帝制衣服。周公制禮樂。以此莊飾。化利中國之民。行中國之禮。然雖不可以廢之）。

Although the clothing and ornaments instituted by the sages throughout the dynasties—whereby the people of the Central Plains practice the rituals of the Central Plains—cannot be discarded, (The Yellow Thearch instituted clothing, and the Duke of Zhou instituted ritual and music; through these adornments, they transformed and benefited the people of the Central Plains so that they practiced the rituals of the Central Plains. These indeed cannot be discarded;)
