老聃亦知竺乾之國有佛聖人。可謂明矣。子獨不知乎。夫太上生東夏。釋迦現西乾（老子生於東國。佛乃生於西天）。

Lao Dan also knew that there was a Buddhist sage in the land of India; he may truly be called clear-sighted! Do you alone not know it? The Supreme Lord was born in the eastern Xia, while Śākya appeared in western India. (Laozi was born in the eastern land; the Buddha was born in the western heavens.)
