5.32

末後拈華示眾。教外別傳不立文字直指人心本來是佛。以正法眼藏涅槃妙心傳付飲光（梵語迦葉此云飲光）。

'At the very end, he held up a flower and showed it to the assembly: a separate transmission outside the teachings, not establishing written words, directly pointing to the human mind to see its nature and become a Buddha. With the treasury of the true Dharma eye and the wondrous mind of nirvāṇa, he entrusted it to Kāśyapa. (The Sanskrit Kāśyapa is translated here as 'Drinker of Light'.)
