朕素無才學。性不聰敏。內典諸文殊未觀覽。所作論序鄙拙尤繁。忽見來書。褒揚讚述。撫躬自省。慚悚交并。又勞師遠臻。深以為愧（內出與玄奘法師）。

We have never had talent or learning, and Our nature is not sharp or clever. We have scarcely examined the texts of the inner canon. The preface to the treatise We composed is crude, clumsy, and especially verbose. Suddenly We saw your letter, extolling and praising it. Examining Our person and reflecting on Ourselves, shame and apprehension join together. Moreover, We have troubled the Master to come from afar, for which We feel deeply abashed.
