33.43

是時鳩那羅。即脫寶冠語旃陀羅言。汝挑我眼我當與汝。復有一人形貌可憎。十八種醜。語鳩那羅言。我能挑眼。時鳩那羅尋憶大德耶舍所說。便說偈言。

At that time, Kuṇāla took off his jewelled crown and said to the caṇḍāla, "If you gouge out my eyes, I will give this to you." There was another man of repulsive appearance, with eighteen kinds of ugliness, who said to Kuṇāla, "I can gouge out your eyes." Kuṇāla immediately remembered what the Venerable Yaśas had said, and spoke a verse:
