思惟諸法悉皆無常。得須陀洹果。又語醜人。所餘一眼隨汝取之。時彼醜人復更挑之。置鳩那羅手中。既失肉眼而得慧眼。復說偈言。
He contemplated all phenomena as entirely impermanent, and attained the fruit of stream-entry (srotāpanna). He again said to the ugly man, "The remaining eye is yours to take as you please." Then that ugly man gouged it out as well and placed it in Kuṇāla's hand. Having lost his physical eyes, he attained the eye of wisdom. Again he spoke a verse:
