19.53

Because the mind does not discern well,
What it sees is not scrutinized with truth.
Foolish as a moth flying into a flame,
You covet the sight of my form.
The physical body is nothing but impure;
What do you seek to see?
Within are fat, blood, and flesh;
Without, it is covered by thin skin.
Though scorched by thirst,
He still practiced the respectful observance of the precepts;
To the point of death he safeguarded my teaching—
He is the one who sees me, not you.
