The king relinquished his throne to his son Kalyāṇāśaya, and with true faith shaved his hair and beards, going forth into homelessness to practice the path within the Buddha-Dharma. Increasing in wholesome dharmas, he was constantly and diligently energetic, attaining the four dhyānas, the four immeasurable minds, and the five supernormal powers. At that time, King Kalyāṇāśaya governed with the Dharma, and in the kingdom there were no resentful people; unflagging in diligence, he made offerings to the Bhagavat. King Puṇyālaṅkāra was Krakucchanda Tathāgata; Bodhisattva Siṃhavikrānta was none other than Bodhisattva Ākāśagarbha; and King Kalyāṇāśaya was Maitreya (from the Sūtra of King Puṇyālaṅkāra Inviting the Buddha, Making Offerings, Going Forth into Homelessness, and Attaining the Path).
