At that time, the yakṣa-demon Kumbhīra came to the Buddha's place, bowed his head at the Buddha's feet, and withdrew to stand at one side. Then the demon Kumbhīra said to the Buddha, "World-Honored One, I now invite the World-Honored One and the great assembly to lodge here for the night." The World-Honored One remained silent. Thereupon, Kumbhīra magically created five hundred multi-storied chambers, beddings, couches, and sitting platforms, each accompanied by five hundred sets of cushions and pillows. He also magically created five hundred lamps, free of any smoke or flame. (Extracted from the Samyuktāgama, fascicle 49)
