10.84

如佛本行經云。爾時太子聞此偈頌。遍體顫慄淚下如雨。愛樂涅槃之樂清淨諸根。唯求出世。不樂處俗。王共智臣宮人婇女種種幻惑太子。時優陀夷國師之子侍衛太子。教諸婦人幻惑之術。而說偈言。

As the Fo benxing jing says: At that time, when the prince heard this verse, his whole body trembled and tears fell like rain. Loving the bliss of nirvāṇa, he purified his faculties, seeking only the supramundane and finding no joy in secular life. The king, together with wise ministers, palace women, and female entertainers, used various illusions to beguile the prince. At that time, Udāyin, the royal preceptor's son who attended the prince, taught the women the art of beguilement, and spoke a verse:
