魏高祖孝文帝（於鄴造安養寺。召四方僧。六宮侍女持年三長月六齋。月別造像。放人出家。手不釋卷。須便為誦。為先皇再治大行供施。度僧尼一萬四千人）

Emperor Xiaowen, Gaozu of the Wei (built Anyang Temple in Ye and summoned monks from the four quarters; the palace ladies of the six quarters upheld the three long months and the six fast days; each month he had images made and released people to go forth into the monastic life; he never let scriptures out of his hands, reciting them whenever needed; for the deceased emperor he twice performed grand funeral offerings and gifts, ordaining 14,000 monks and nuns).
