右周時宇文氏五帝二十五年。合寺九百三十一所。譯經一十六部。孝愍皇帝。創基未久。佛法不閑。高祖神武皇帝。不信三寶。現報重患。

The above constitutes the Zhou period under the Yuwen clan of five emperors for 25 years: a total of 931 temples, and 16 works translated. Emperor Xiaomin had only just established the foundation and was not familiar with the Buddhadharma. Emperor Shenwu, Gaozu, did not believe in the Three Jewels, and suffered severe illness in visible retribution.
