In the first year of the Yixi reign of the Eastern Jin, Minister over the Masses Wang Mi entered the palace and stayed at the East Side Gate. A eunuch saw five-colored light emerging from the earth east of the gate; astonished, he dug into it and found an antique-shaped bronze dish, beneath which a gold image was obtained, four feet high, complete with halo and pedestal. This was likewise an image made by King Aśoka, identical to that [found by] Sun Hao. Thereupon it was offered and taken into the palace. Emperor Wu of the Liu Song had originally not been very faithful, but upon obtaining this image, he gained increasing reverence and joyful awakening, personally bowing and attending to it. This image was originally in Waguan [Temple], and was later moved to Longguang [Temple].
