14.46

又問。目連舍利弗佛在已終。如何重見。答曰。同名六人。此目連非大目連也。至宇文周時。文殊師利化為梵僧。來游此土云。欲禮拜迦葉佛說法處并往文殊所住之處。名清涼山。遍問道俗無有知者。時有智猛法師年始十八。反問梵僧。何因知有二聖餘迹。答曰。在秦都城南二十里。有蒼頡造書臺。即其地也。又云在沙河南五十里青山北四十里。即其處也。

He further asked, "Maudgalyāyana and Śāriputra had already passed away while the Buddha was in the world. How could they be seen again?" He answered, "There were six people of the same name; this Maudgalyāyana was not the Great Maudgalyāyana. When it came to the Northern Zhou of Yuwen, Mañjuśrī transformed into an Indian monk and came wandering to this land, saying he wished to pay homage to the place where Kāśyapa Buddha preached the Dharma, and also to go to where Mañjuśrī resides, named Mount Qingliang. He inquired everywhere among monastics and laypeople, but none knew. At that time there was Dharma Master Zhimeng, only eighteen years of age, who asked the Indian monk in return, 'By what reason do you know that the remaining traces of the two sages exist?' He answered, 'Twenty li south of the Qin capital there is the platform where Cangjie created writing; that is the very place.' He also said, 'Fifty li south of the Sand River and forty li north of the Green Mountains; that is the very spot.'"
