He further asked, "What do 'Sand River' and 'Green Mountains' refer to?" He answered, "The Wei River and Mount Zhongnan. This monk then walked straight south from the Wei River, reaching High Four in the distance, and said, 'This is the place where the ancient Buddha preached the Dharma.' At that time, Dharma Master Zhimeng followed along to pay homage, and before long he lost track of where the Indian monk was. When Zhimeng grew up, he fully recounted it to Minister of the Court of Imperial Sacrifices Wei, requesting that a temple be established at the site of that platform according to the original [tradition]. Thereupon a memorial was presented to the Zhou emperor, and it was named Sanhui Temple (Temple of the Three Assemblies). In the Daye era of the Sui, it was abolished and merged into a large temple; having been dismantled and abolished, it was allocated to Bodhi Temple. Today, the Buddha head in the western hall of Bodhi Temple, east of the south gate of Pingkang Ward west of the Eastern Market in the capital, is precisely the Buddha of Sanhui Temple. Twelve years after Śākyamuni Tathāgata converted Mahākāśyapa, he came to this platform; beneath it, there are currently the relics of Kāśyapa Buddha. King Mu of Zhou personally traveled to Bactria (Daxia); the Buddha told him, 'In that land of yours there is an ancient pagoda that you may return to worship.' The king asked in which direction, and the Buddha replied, 'To the southeast of Haojing.' The Western Indian kingdoms all have separate records of this. Last year, the Venerable Changnian, a monk from Siṃhala aged ninety-nine rains-retreats who was an anāgāmin of the third fruit, heard of these sublime traces and personally came to pay homage. He also submitted a memorial requesting to go to Mount Qingliang in northern Dai, the seat of Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva."
