17.40

佛以蛤天人所說偈為四眾說法。是時眾中八萬四千人皆得道跡。蛤天人得須陀洹果。合掌而去。

Using the verses spoken by the frog-deva, the Buddha expounded the Dharma for the fourfold assembly. At that time, eighty-four thousand people in the assembly all attained the trace of the way. The frog-deva attained the fruit of a srotāpanna, joined his palms, and departed.
