Furthermore, the Nirvāṇa Sūtra says: "If there is a good man or good woman who, hearing the name of this sūtra, is born into the four evil destinies, there is no such possibility. If any sentient being has it pass their ear even once, it can eradicate all evil karmic deeds of the uninterrupted [hell]." It also says: "If any sentient being has it pass their ear even once, for seven kalpas thereafter they will not fall into evil paths." It also says: "If someone can know that the Tathāgata is eternal and without alteration, or hears the sound of the two words 'eternally abiding,' once it passes their ear they will immediately be born in heaven; later, at the time of liberation, they will then be able to realize and know that the Tathāgata is eternal and without alteration." Furthermore, the Avataṃsaka Sūtra says: "If one hears a single phrase of Dharma never heard before, it surpasses obtaining the precious gems of a trichiliocosm. When this bodhisattva is able to hear a single verse of the saddharma, conceiving the thought of it as superior wealth, it surpasses attaining the rank of a wheel-turning sage king." Furthermore, the Lotus Sūtra says: "If a good man or good woman upholds, reads, recites, explains, or copies this Lotus Sūtra, this person will obtain eight hundred virtues of the eye, one thousand two hundred virtues of the ear, eight hundred virtues of the nose, one thousand two hundred virtues of the tongue, eight hundred virtues of the body, and one thousand two hundred virtues of the mind."
