"Worshipping toward the north means that there are five duties in a person caring for relatives and friends. First, seeing them do evil, one goes privately to a secluded place to remonstrate with them and stop them. Second, if there is a slight emergency, one must hasten to rescue and protect them. Third, any private talk must not be told to others. Fourth, they must revere and praise one another. Fifth, of whatever fine goods one has, one must share a portion with them. Worshipping toward the earth means that a man caring for his male and female servants also has five duties. First, he must give them clothing and food in a timely manner. Second, when they are sick and emaciated, he must call a physician to treat them. Third, he must not beat them recklessly. Fourth, if they have personal property, he must not seize it. Fifth, what is apportioned must be given to them equitably. Servants serving their master also have five duties. First, they must rise early and not make the master call them. Second, whatever tasks are to be done, they must apply their minds to do them in order. Third, they must cherish the master's property and not discard it or give it away to beggars. Fourth, when the master enters or leaves, they must see him off and welcome him. Fifth, they must praise the master's good qualities and not speak of his faults."
