24.38

又大方等陀羅尼經云。佛告阿難。若有父母妻子。不放此人至於道場者。此人應向父母等前燒種種香。長跪合掌應作是言。我今欲至道場哀愍聽許亦應種種諫曉隨宜說法。亦應三請。若不聽者。此人應於舍宅默自思惟誦持經典。

Furthermore, the Mahāvaipulya Dhāraṇī Sūtra states: The Buddha told Ānanda, “If there are parents, a wife, and children who do not permit this person to go to the place of practice, this person should burn various incenses before their parents and the others, kneel on both knees with palms joined, and say: ‘I now wish to go to the place of practice; please have pity and grant permission.’ They should also remonstrate and explain to them in various ways, preaching the Dharma as appropriate, and should also make the request three times. If they still do not grant permission, this person should quietly contemplate and recite and uphold the scriptures in their home.”
