The Shuyi ji also states: One-Horn was a man from the river district of Yijun, perhaps several hundred years old. People had forgotten his name. A horn grew atop his head, so they called him One-Horn. Sometimes he would suddenly depart for years on end; sometimes he would not speak for several decades of days. Yet when he did speak, the purports were subtle and profound, and none could fathom them. In his dwelling, he transformed people purely through virtue, and also gave quite a few admonitions and instructions. One morning, he took leave of his family, entered the river in front of his cottage, and transformed into a carp, with the horn still on its head. Afterward, he would occasionally return for a short time, his appearance just as in life, drinking and feasting with his sons and grandsons for several days before leaving.
