Guanxian was a man of Song who made his living by fishing. He lived beside the Sui River for over a hundred years. When he caught fish, he would release some, sell some, or eat them himself. He always wore a cap and sash, was fond of planting water caltrops, and ate their blossoms and fruits. Duke Jing of Song asked him about his Dao, but he would not tell, so the Duke had him killed. Several decades later, he sat atop the city gate of Song playing the zither, leaving only after several tens of days. Every household in Song offered sacrifices to him. (The above three verifications are from the Soushen yiji.)
